Very, very unusual location. Seem to recall someone posting something on social media not so long ago of one in a suburban backyard somewhere in Canberra, I think Farrer?
As Location Moderator for Isaacs, I was surprised to get a notification of this unusual sighting. Let's hope he can attract a mate, or at least avoid the local cats before moving on.
When the Farrer sighting was listed on social media, I remember commenting that the closest I'd seen (heard) them was at Kambah Pool, I think on the other side of the Murrumbidgee, and in a straight line that is about 8.5km away, with this sighting being around 10.5km from there.
Connecting Nature, Connecting People is an ACT Government initiative to support the movement of species - ecological connectivity - but this bird seems ahead of the game.
They are also in Kowen Forest (presumably resident since the habitat is suitable and they are regularly recorded in there). So given multiple populations around it's bound to happen occasionally that one gets a bit off track. They also don't mind drier woodland in some places, so not totally unheard of, but definitely a great and unusual record
