The reflexa/curviclavia split is one that makes me uneasy. The labellum callous arrangement is the same as many of the reflexa on CNM. However this plant has the recurved lateral sepals that are more characteristic of curviclavia. Given the projection of the major callous is meant to be different between the two species, but this has the same callous as all the other reflexa, I am hesitant to make a call on this.

I thought the calli often exceeded the edge of the labellum in C.reflexa, (almost like the tail of a wasp). Chiloglottis reflexa While in C.curviclavia the calli taper off before the end of the labellum see Chiloglottis curviclavia (Bird Orchid)

I must say I went C.curviclavia based upon the recurved lateral sepals.

Yeah fair enough. I hadn't noticed that the calli didn't extend to the tip of the labellum. Not sure if that is a feature to split it from reflexa, but it is sort of alluded to in some of the descriptions, and it is a fairly consistent 'distinguishing' feature when comparing images of C. reflexa with those of C. curviclavia on VICFlora.

Sorry gents, going through Chiloglottis and I reckon this is reflexa not curviclavia. Main callus not projecting above rest of calli, not as deeply notched, and apical calli somewhat plate-like. I think some reflexa can have recurved lateral sepals.

Thanks Tobias.

Thanks Tobias, appreciate it as always. I find these two somewhat frustrating. The calli plates detail is a new one to me, my first experience with the species was this sighting confirmed by David Chiloglottis curviclavia (Bird Orchid) . Thinking now these are more likely C.reflexa?
