This cockatoo appears to be suffering from feather and beak disease, which is contagious between parrots. It was on the ground next to a house in Ingamels street Garran that regularly feeds parrots. It is within a few hundred metres of several known Gang-gang nest trees and I have seen Gang-gangs and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos being fed together at this house. Within 100m of the feed house I am also aware of two drink trees in which I have observed both Gang-gangs and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos drinking from the same hollow stored water sources. We have lost Gang-gangs to beak and feather disease. Reason to question the worth of feeding or at least how carefully and hygienically you do it.
