Sawfly larva on nearby leaf (in background of second photo) but not sure if same species so didn't add photos of them. Swelling on leaf (visible in both photos) - is this related?

Yep same species - female guards her young in this sawfly species for 4-6 weeks after which she dies - It's a tough life being a mum
