Not sure if this is the same one as a couple of days ago, slightly different location (30m) apart.

Hi Nockels, If you can get photos of their left and right faces (which may differ to a surprising degree), then you could use the photos to keep tabs on the different goannas that visit. They live for decades and are creatures of habit so you are likely to see repeat visits. A friend is doing this with Tree Goannas and has a few animals that he sees frequently and a surprising number seen only once so far; I think his total is 15 in a few years on a small block on the coast escarpment. If you dont have a tele lens just creep up very slowly, but never approaching them directly, until you are in range.

We have photographed faces of 110 Rosenberg's Goannas along Naas River and placed GPS packs on some. Also they have microchips. Some of the males have gone as far as your property and much further and returned. So its possible you will see ones whose faces I have on record (don.fletcher@emailme.com.au).

This location is a lot more plausible than your other sighting because it can be seen on the Google Earth map here to lie between two houses. It would be great if you could correct the other one. cheers
