User's notes

This moth was on the dry washing when I took it in after being away for some days, and it settled inaccessibly in the house. Last night it moved to a site where I could capture it today, 30th October. Its wingspan is 50mm (5cm) at the widest part, and its body is about 17mm from nose to tail.

Would have to be extremely worn to be this species, but some vestigial markings just visible do indicate this species. I have concluded its unlikely to be Anthelidae (eg. Pterolocera genus) becaise of the filamentous antennae.

Yes, from looking at the photos in the big moth book, I thought the antennae were too different for the previous genus you proposed - Pterolocera.
Thanks for the Melanodes ID. That looks very like 'my' moth. :-)
