I sent these and other images of the Mt Majura Glossy Black Cockatoo to the "Glossies in the Mist" team who are using facial and tail feather markings on females to identify Glossy family groups. Erna Llenore got back to me saying that they were confident that we are seeing the one group of birds on Mt Majura and that the female observed is not one of the Southern Highland birds. Erna did note" that the closer our sightings get to Canberra the more they resemble her. This fits with our sense that family groups pass on similar facial markings. She’s probably a distant relative of our more southerly birds!"

@MichaelMulvaney. Yes I did get that email from Erna after I sent her more photos of the tail of the female and expressed an interest in her finding. Interesting stuff.
