User's notes

On open ground, covering extensive area. Minimal connection to ground and breaks up easily. Pieces not readily dispersed by wind even though it was strong.

One of the so-called vagrant lichens (https://www.anbg.gov.au/lichen/ecology-vagrants.html). If you wet one of these it will open out, become greener and begin photosynthesizing. Then you can watch it dry and curl up again as it goes back to the dormant state.

Tried wetting a sample. Colour brightened, and it plumped up, becoming very much 3-dimensional rather than virtually flat as when it started dry.
