User's notes

Have pressed a sample for species identification by a botanist at a later date, since D. ciliaris and D. sanguinalis are difficult to distinguish. Growing in shade of a Cherry Ballart. Close ups and scan added later.

Hi, we would appreciate the botanists opinion.

Same thing from another site identified by Isobel Crawford as Ehrharta erecta.

I'm pretty sure the specimen is the Panic Veldtgrass; it has been introduced as pasture grass or turf grass and does well in the shade (where Barb collected). I was a bit confused by the 3rd photo until I noticed it is a magnified close-up of the fruits. Well done Barb. I think the scans of grasses work well although it is much work to take a photo in situ and then a scan of a collected specimen.
As Barb mentioned I collected a specimen elsewhere which botanist I. Crawford id-ed and it was the same species as far as I could see (Ehrharta erecta (Panic Veldtgrass)).

Agree Ehrharta erecta. Unfortunately it has taken off very well with the successive wet seasons.
