I cannot see the diagnostic red spot for U. pulchelliodes.

No mention of a diagnostic red spot in the new Moth Book which mentions that U. lotrix is uncommon. Could I have got that lucky?

Its more common further north but turns up from time to time in Canberra. Three other records on CNM. The links to the diagnostic information from CNM no longer exist because bowerbord.org.au has been discontinued. If you have a hard copy of Moths of Victoria (Part 2) there is a supporting disc which comes with the book with a PDF file: 'Utestheisa-Separating species' which isllustrates the difference beteen to the two species.
