Female. Thread-like antennae.

I think it's a worn S. lyciaria. See photos of both females in Moths in ACT

I've looked at the photos in Moths in Act as I did originally and I'd still plump for S. loxographa female due to the shape of the forewing main line. Have you other criteria you'd point too?

I note that today 8/9/2026 iNaturalist's AI algorithm persists in suggesting S. loxograha as its preferred identification for this sighting,

I do not see the outer hindwing pattern I would expect to see for E. luxaria.

and we all should believe what the machine says. Hail Big Brother.

Sometimes I think iNaturalist's AI is correct, sometimes not. More generally, it also depends on the question you ask!

I know. The trouble is that you basically have to know the answer before asking it. MOST users do not know this, so AI gets away with BS-ing them.
some extreme e.g. (human) everyone hates me so I think I should kill myself -(A.I.) You are a very intelligent person, that seems like a very good idea etc etc Let me give you some ideas for methods....
iNat AI is pretty good. I do however find it annoying being told my Victorian moth is a choice of sp. only found in U.S.A.. iNat has a much bigger data set than NM A.I. to work with. NM AI needs to be able to say I don't know instead of posting totally implausible IDs. I can see no explanation for some of the recent NM AI suggestions. It used to only hop in after a certain number of verified species was reached. If this is still happening maybe this needs to rise.

I also wonder if NM AI takes into account moderators changing IDs? i'e' does it reprocess if its data set changes?
