@entom2 why do you think it's Neospades aurocyanea?

I cant find anything helpful on line about Neospades aurocyanea. Is it in one of the beetle books?

Welcome to the foggy world of Buprestids tpreston and birdy. As I have said before, there is next to no reference material readily available so we are lucky to have someone of entom2's calibre 'looking over us' with their decades of experience. Well done tpreston for adding a new genus of jewel beetle to CNM ! what plant was it on, looks a bit 'verbascumy' ?

I'm not really sure what the plant was, it was about 1m tall with leaves all up the main stem, but I was so focused on the beetle I forgot to really notice the plant.
Thanks entom2 for the ID.

Hi Birdy hi tprestons, I have collected this species in western Sydney and the pattern on yours matches mine, and there is only one species in Neospades with this particular pattern, though the colours are quite variable. Yours is a particularly nice one. Stuart is kind about me and is correct in that reference material apart from original descriptions is scarce or non-existent.

The genus Neospades is currently undergoing a Revision by an overseas scientist. I will ask him about the status of this species.

I have heard back from the person doing the revision of Neospades and he has never heard of Neospades aurocyanea. He did mention the species Diphucrania aurocyanea which is listed by Bellamy in the Australian Catalogue of Buprestidae. I think this must be the species that Allen is thinking of.

My apologies everyone, I am now certain this is actually Diphucrania aeruginosa. Cheers, Allen.
