There are four other Copidita sightings on Canberra Nature Map . Three look to be the same species as this record. The Atlas of Living Australia lists 19 Copidita species names. Amongst about the half of these that I have been able to see a photo C. sloanei does seem distinctive so your ID is probably right. Do you have any ore information re ID?
Hi Michael. For some reason I didn't see the four other Copidita sp. sightings on CNM so I went to the 'Australian Beetles Only' FB site which was forthcoming with suggestions. Was suggested C. kershawi or C. sloanei and after viewing images on ALA it seemed a no brainer. I concede that three others on CNM do look like C. sloanei. Now volunteers are allowed back into ANIC I can look at specimens when next there....
Hi Michael, had a squizz at ANIC, my record plus the 3 others (with white background to pic) under 'Copidita sp.' all match perfectly to Copidita sloanei in the collected specimens, of which there are about 30 individuals. Even at ANIC many creatures are not identified to species level, or even genus for that matter. Regards the other 'Copidita' (with a brownish background to pic), I found no match though some in the Oedemeridae family under the genera Parisopalpus (kershawi) and Thelyphassa looked similar.....
