This species (considered vulnerable in NSW) is a very rare visitor to the region.

It's not a Wedge-tailed Eagle, I think its one of the kites but the plumage is quite worn so a bit hard to tell. Maybe someone else will be able to help.

Agree with Square-tailed Kite ID after some deliberation (including with Liam) between similar species, plumage is quite strange and appears to be worn which makes ID somewhat more difficult.

@Liam.m @natureguy I tried uploading one more picture that I had, it has a bit more colour of under the wings, not sure if that would help? However I can't see that it has uploaded. Is there a photo limit?

Thanks, it’s a very worn bird (like Luke said), but that photo confirms it (for me at least). Congrats on the sighting, a very rare and cool bird to see!
