I'm interested to see if this gets an ID, as I have a sighting that looks the same from 22 Feb 2021 that is still unidentified: Melanerythrus mutilatus (A seed eating bug)

Super photo Matthew and yes it looks the same. I was having a bad id day with all my cicadas wrong let alone other ids but I was pretty sure this was a true bug so was surprised I couldn't find it.

I think there are less than ten electronic records of this species nationally - but unsure how well collected it may be in the National Insect Collection
