Thanks Michael My first thought was a wasp but after looking at it in Lightroom and seeing the amount of hairs on it I changed my mind to thinking it must be a bee.
The unique feature of bees is not that they have hairs but that they have branched hairs. (Sometimes the branched hairs can be hard to find, but I have yet to see a report of a bee with none at all.)
