This sighting and previous sighting 4408939 are a poor-quality sequence of images taken from a distance in windy conditions, showing the mating ritual of a pair of Metallic Green Carpenter Bees. The first image was taken just after mating occurred. In the second to fourth images the male backed away a short distance and then slowly flew closer to the female. In the final image the female raised her body up into the flowers and the male left the area to feed on adjacent flowers, as shown in following sighting 4408941. Thanks to Marcus Leach for help with the sighting.
