GPSed. Assume it is a Monaro GED given where it was. I noticed it when I was walking along the road edge - my first ever sighting. Guess I startled it as it was out sunning itself after a cold night but it didn't shoot off before I could get a pic. My colleagues told me that it was a male based on its yellow throat.
Well done - great record, good photos. Yes, judging by the shape of the base of the tail it does look like a male in breeding condition. In females the thickness of the the base of the tail tapers off more steeply over a shorter distance. Did you notice whether the yellow colour under throat continued down to the belly? Will O.
