Another example of probable Predation, consistent with previous such injured / dead Shinglebacks found in this area from time to time. Great Pity as they can live for several decades. Does anyone have any suggestion for the cause ? Eg. Raven or whatever ?

"Although I have not seen this before my best guess is that a predator/scavanger is taking advantage of a possible birthing event. Something with the right tools and smart enough to work out, perhaps in isolated cases how to do it. The most likely culprit could be a Raven, but until they are caught in the act we can only speculate and be careful not to draw too many hasty conclusions."
So please keep an eye out for Raven predation.

I observe quite frequently a pair of ravens at the Fair walking around - I'm afraid they learnt the trick. They seem to deliberately search around logs.
