Saw this in my blechnum patersonii (known site) sighitng https://canberra.naturemapr.org/sightings/4400693
And got excited, the cropping isn't great, and theres no way i could've got ot this fern without getting my feet wet, but i'm wondering if theres enough to identify this (i'm thinking is fairly distinctive in our region).

This would have been identified as A. bulbiferum in previous years. However, the taxonomists have got at it and it appears now to be A. gracillimum. See https://vicflora.rbg.vic.gov.au/flora/taxon/339df8c5-3b97-42cd-8ec0-1abd539b14c7

I was wondering why both names seem to be on CNM, :). I take it that this species is uncommon in our region and that this is a new location? Interesting that it's growing directly below another rare fern (B.patersonii). :)

A. bulbiferum/gracilimum are quite often found near running water in the Brindabellas and Tidbinbillas. The same is true of B. patersonii. I'd not be surprised to find them in the Gibraltar Falls area.

Very interseting, A relative of mine has a block out in the Brindabella's (i'm told there are many water features). So the fern hunting tips are much appreciated :).

Another place worth looking at (though a fair drive) is Ginini Falls. There was plenty of Blechnum pennmarina in the sphagnum bogs along the road, but I never got down to investigate the falls proper.
