I am hoping not but as we only have2 plants that I am aware of a timely I’d would be great.

Are there any features you would like me to check or photograph.

We have not had fireweed in this area before. NW Delegate.

I must say from the photo I'm not entirely sure, an image of the leaves and flower bracts will help. what do you think @MichaelMulvaney.

It is not Madagascan fireweed - but I am unsure which native senecio it is

Cheers Michael

So don’t dig it out just yet?
Happy to get close up photos if needed.

Photo of leaves attached. Only 1 plant left as this one has had a weevil in the stem.

Sorry Toni - this slipped my mind but remembered early this morning. I think you will have to consider this as Madagascan fireweed and pull it out - sorry for the delay. The leaves are typical fireweed like leaves and there are no varieties of Senecio pinnatifoliuus that have leaves like these. I was originally put off Madagascan fireweed by the purple colour of the bracts rather than being predominately green , but then the leaves are more purplish than you would expect and perhaps this is a result of weevil damage. @Parks818 @ACTParks-InvasivePlantsTeam do you have anything to add?

Toni
If you come across any more plants like this, check the number of bracts at the back of the flower.
See advice in Senecio madagascariensis (Madagascan Fireweed, Fireweed) and also another picture from a sighting at Michelago Senecio madagascariensis (Madagascan Fireweed, Fireweed) which shows the back of the flower.
I came across another fireweed plant this week, on Mt Majura so that is why I've been checking up on the id traits.
