User's notes

On a suburban nature strip, several hundred metres from a nature reserve. A pleasant surprise!

Any idea how it came to be here? It's a nature strip in an established suburb. Used to be couch grass lawn. We've been attempting to regenerate it with local natives. Old seed bank? Could a seed have come in via potting mix? How are their seeds naturally dispersed?

Orchid seed are tiny and can trace large distance in the wind. Most orchids require particular fungi to grow so perhaps the more pertinent question is how the fungi got there?
