The face looks very like a Chlenias. I have never seen an early Chlenias instar looking like this. Simon : I do hope you have it in protective custody?

I didn’t manage to get it, it was so fast it was practically out of reach before l had finished photographing it. I did think it might be a Smyriodes based on http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/naco/trigramma.html
If I see another I’ll grab it before taking a photo

Yes, i agree Smyriodes does look likely, but I suspect we need a better match with a known identified caterpillar.
