There are at least two events of plantings of non-local species in this part of Red Hill. In 1917-1922 plantings of red-flowering Grevillea and Swansonea were made. A group of native plant enthusiasts were active in parts of Red Hill in the early 1970s. I did manage to track down and speak to one of the participants quite a few years ago but they didn't have a list nor could they remember the species planted or where on Red Hill plantings were made, but this was the one location of plantings that they could confirm and I suspect this Melaleuca dates from then.
