This is the closest I could find, it looked like a piece of Possum poo hollowed out.

If that is Possum poo, then it could be the larva of one of the species listed at http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/faqs/scats.html

Thanks, the lava was on the truck of a eucalyptus tree, guess I need to catch him and see what he turns into.
