These case moths were widely spread on leaves of eucalypts just down from Deakin reservoir

These look more like early instar Hyalarcta nigrescens.

I once reared a group of H. nigriscens, and my (not necessarily reliable) recollection confirms Don's suggestion. Would it be possible to get some more in focus images?

or better still take a couple into protective custody, and rear them to see what the cases of later instars look like, and possibly rear them to get an identifiable adult moth?
