A small stand higher up the slope than most in this area

In my view, the buds in these photos are much more suggestive of E. goniocalyx or E. nortonii. I would even say that the juvenile leaves look more like either of those than E. bridgesiana. Would be interested if @WalterEgo is able to return to the tree and see if there are fruit to photograph?

Absolutely Matthew, I don't know what was going through my head, this is definitely E. goniocalyx.
