Although nationally common, Blady Grass is uncommon in the ACT, with most records from along the Murrumbidgee, particularly in the Point Hut to Red Rocks section. The water quality projects of which Mawson Ponds is one included plantings of several locally uncommon species such as Nardoo at Isabella Ponds and Blady Grass at Mawson Ponds. It is a good way of reducing their scarcity and adding diversity to a local environment.

It is reasonably common near Pine Island, below the northern (but closed) picnic area.
