Thanks Roy - Really appreciate your photos and information of Gang Gang food items - privet and sunflower seed. Hopefully we will get many more like them to give us a good idea of what Gang Gangs are eating. Dirk Junior has his father's piercing eyes.

Maybe I should leave all the privet instead of removing it. Do you think it eats hawthorn too?

Yes it will be interesting to see how much "weed" species compose of their diet - Pistachio, Cotoneatser and Chinese Elms are other favourites. They are seed eaters who destroy seed so you could look at it in the way that you and the gang gangs make a formidable weed control team.

Interestingly the Gang-gangs never touch the Cotoneaster at our house. (Maybe they can eat it if necessary, but it doesn't seem to be very popular with them). It would be interesting to know why they don't like Cotoneaster...???

On Red Hill I have seen the Gang-gangs pillaging the Cootamundra Wattle seeds when they are fresh and green, I thought I put one photo on CNM years ago but I can't find it.

I've attached link to my old photo of them eating Eucalyptus globulus subsp. bicostata

Eucalyptus globulus subsp. bicostata (Southern Blue Gum, Eurabbie)

Callocephalon fimbriatum (Gang-gang Cockatoo)

At the time I thought it was quite interesting that this adult pair still had a begging juvenile with them in July.
