Looks similar to umbrella sedge but distinctly different, i assume this isnt native??

It doesn't look like a local native, but most likely planted.

It's not impossible, but I doubt it, these plants are growing in an area that was disturbed by recent earthworks (associated with the construction of a children's play area). There was a significant amount of imported mulch and soil so I suspect they may have come in that. I am under the impression that the only plantings here are native, (Juncus, Typha, and Phragmites australis in this area). Regardless they are spreading well amongst the Juncus, alongside Cyperus eragrostis. :)
