Smyriodes trigramma has the scalloped line across the wings. S. aplectaria has a smooth line across the wings.

OK. If that holds true previous IDs probably need revision.

I was mostly comparing them in Moths of Victoria. I think it largely follows for 'research grade' on iNat. see
https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations?place_id=6744&preferred_place_id=6744&quality_grade=research&taxon_id=892243
versus
https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations?place_id=6744&preferred_place_id=6744&quality_grade=research&taxon_id=716922
I am not sure if I can sort for a particular (trusted) varifier there?
Another feature is dip in the upper line to the inner margin on Smyriodes trigramma. No dip in S. aplectaria.
Smyriodes aspera (if only considering the lines - say in a worn specimen) has very zig zag lines for both (apart from other features)

Reading Glenn's? notes on the species pages we need to further check BOLD to see if DNA analysis has sorted out the "Smyriodes undescribed species nr aplectaria" which he says is the common ACT species.

Yes, a tricky one, from memory. Would you like me to raise this with Glenn again? I really have nobody else to ask.

My brain hurts! Looking at ALA, it lists 3 species Smyriodes trigramma, S. aplectaria & S. idiograpta. To keep us confused iNat has 3 too Smyriodes trigramma, S. aplectaria & S. aspera. I have not found this species on ALA. It lists Stenoteras as a synonym for this genus but no Stenoteras aspera. AFD the same. I think iNat's Smyriodes aspera = Cymatophora aspera
