somewhat inconspicuous at edge of sedge patch (Eleocharis) on slopes of dam, growing as an understorey to Eleocharis.
Prostrate habit.
Distinctive purple coloration to inflorescences and to leaves.

I wonder whether that could be the water couch? years ago someone pointed out to me a water couch at the edge of the lower dam off Blue Metal Road. Unfortunately, I neither took photos nor samples at that time - I can probably collect a sample for our botanist Isobel. W

It is definitely not water couch (Paspalum distichum), see: Paspalum distichum
