Hi Matt. Did you consider S. furva? The location, and only 2, quite dark, flowers would make this a possibility.

I thought S. furva was meant to occur in more coastal areas. I will have another look on the weekend when I have access to my books.

Cath, looks like you are correct. In addition to the features you described, these flowers are also darker than typical S. rubescens.
