Around 2.5 cm in length. I'm pretty sure it's a fly but it's a bit of a guess as to what sort

Hi, this is a sawfly, possibly Pseudoperga lewisii. I'd also say there are at least two, not one. The leg at the top of the photo is coming from the other side of the leaf and you can just see the body along the edge of the leaf.
