Author's notes

Two Gang-gang chicks successfully fledged this evening. The first chick had already fledged when I arrived, and the second began its process while I watched. Fantastic to watch, like a little child summoning the courage to jump into the swimming pool for the first time. Videoed the actual launch moment too. A very good first flight, Mum and Dad spontaneously launched with it and guided it back to the same tree for a successful first landing.
