Author's notes
Was identified in previous post as "cluster clover" Trifolium glomeratum. This is another image, as it doesn't seem to look like the reference images. The flower/ball things look the same, but no leaves.

When you blow up the image you can see the dried out clover leaves, and most other clovers have their flowers on a stalk not stalkless as in cluster clover. This link has some useful info and images
