Nice sighting! A common species in eastern Australia. Do you know what species of eucalypt you found them on?

Thank you. Sorry don't know the species of eucalypt it was only a small tree though not a full grown one and the branches were all pretty much covered in it.

No worries. Might be 'Eucalyptus melliodora' going by the leaves only, but eucalypts are difficult to id at the best of times. I asked because this is one of the species I am interested in for my current research project and host plant can be used to tell closely-related species apart.

it's pretty easy to find if you are able to go there, it is close to the pathway and the smallest tree. Unfortunately trees and plants are not our forte and we are not very good at the IDs on them. Sorry couldn't be any more help.

I'm currently in Brisbane and won't have a chance to travel interstate until later next year (current situation permitting of course). It is still useful to know where the species has been spotted so I can keep tabs on them. Plant ID is a steep learning curve, and I still defer to a retired botanist for many of my host plant ids for the scale insects I find.

Yes we find it very difficult to ID a lot of plants we see so unfortunately do bother with them unless they really look unusual or have a beautiful flower.
Good luck with what you are doing.
