Significant sighting

MichaelMulvaney noted:

26 Nov 2020

This is a weed of major consequence if it spreads good to catch it early

User's notes

Growing on bank of Ginninderra creek. Extremely fearsome spines from lower trunk to tips of branches. I thought it might be a Robinia but its flowers seemed to be too small.

This is a tree from hell, the thorns can grow as big as daggers and pierce a persons arms. Unfortunately we still have landscape gardeners recommending its use as a street tree. They claim that non-thorn varieties are safe, but they are not they do not breed true. This tree should be removed as a matter of priority and needs experts to undertake - small saplings along the river should be cut and dabbed with roundup.
