Need a lateral view showing the legs. 16 legs = Lepidoptera.

It could be Dodd's Azure, but it is ridiculously hard to identify caterpillars to species. Due to the date, I am guessing that you did not rear it?

donhe, Birdy: Ogyris iphis doddi is a rare tropical species of butterfly only found on Melville Island and near Darwin in the NT (MIchael F Braby, Butterflies of Australia, 2000).
As Christine notes above, isn't this a moth caterpillar? (Arctiinae?)

I do not think the photo is similar enough to other photos of P. aglaophora to be sure it is that species. I agree is likely to be a moth in the subfamiliy Arctiini though. A side-on view would have been useful.

If it is Lepidoptera, and not say Coleoptera, the absence of yellow dorsal stripe indicates Ctenuchini (Arctininae).
