Sighted on the side of a tree just above head height. The ant was facing away from a strong wind blowing past the tree, which was causing the wings to blow over the body.

Nice photos, as usual Tim. This is a queen, either about to try to find a mate (on the wing) or, having mated, about to drop her wings and look for somewhere to dig a nest. Either way, the windy weather probably wouldn't have helped! Cheers, Jon
