No sign of star. Brown spores from hole when touched.

Thanks Heino. I will have to sharpen my observation powers; I assumed it was a puffed out puffball. Earthfan is shown in https://canberra.naturemapr.org/Sightings/4265730.

You probably have a small specimen of Thelephora terrestris between the puffballs. It's the low dark brown, white-edged thing with the wrinkled surface. You can see a couple of sightnigs here: https://admin-canberra.naturemapr.org/Community/Species/Sightings/15639.
