Opportunist in grassland responding to steady rains. Its thin but shiny red stems are eye-catching.

It looks a bit too robust for Tripogon loliiformis - are you able to take a photo of the inflorescence/seedheads?

Psilurus incurvuss is superficially similar to Tripogon loliiformis.

OMG pinnaCLE - you were 100% correct with your original suggestion. I have never before seen Five Minute Grass this dense, lush, lanky and beautiful; it's gob-smacking! I've collected a herbarium specimen (RWP 11952) because I suspect most material from the ACT has a much smaller stature.
