Any idea what it looked like underneath? Gills, pores, smooth or something else?

Hi Ken. Sorry for the delay. I had to go find them again and they had mostly dried up. I took a photo of the underside, but it’s not so clear. Not gills or pores. More like repeating little waves (if that’s a thing?). New photo added.
