Nice looking specimen. This genus is mycorrhizal (myco -fungal, rhizal - root, fungal-root) that is they are associated with plant roots usually trees. Notice some evidence of euclypts nearby - do you know what species please? This genus is in that 'bolete' group of fungi though in this case has gills instead of pores.

Hi there Pam, yes there are many eucalyptus trees but I don't know the species.
If you want, I can take photos of the trees and submit it for someone to tell me what the species are and I can reply here again.
