It's hard for me to confirm from the photos Michael M. You'd be a better judge having seen it. But not good to have such a large infestation.

Thanks Michael B I have asked Cath to look at this sighting - if I am right I fear that mowing has already spread the grass widely across the inner south

A comment about Panicum effusum. It is not very competitive & I've only ever seen it growing in a sparsely scattered way, not in a large dense patch.

From what I can see it looks like the same thing. Of course my identification is only based on my previous CNM sightings. I tried to take a specimen to Dave Albrecht a few weeks ago, but I missed him, and then the world went crazy...

I asked Steve Taylor for a second opinion, and he said "yes Michael we have moved it out eradication-containment category - into asset protection - gather it is toxic to both sheep and horsesloads of of large new infestations across the region". Which is bad news as I gather it is toxic to both sheep and horses.
