Hi Jbromilow50, M. nigriceps is similar, but the overall colour and shape of the mandibles makes it M. simillima, another relatively common species. Cheers, Jon
Hi John, yes, the mandibles are typically yellowish. So you normally see an ant with black (or at least very dark) head and gaster (tail), a reddish body and yellowish mandibles. They do seems to be reasonably consistent in this colouration. Cheers, Jon
