Do you have any other photos? Thee eye looks more yellow and while I haven't visited this one smaller shallower wetlands tend to have Aus Grebes rather than Hoarys. It's a bit hard to tell the features from this photo because it's overexposed.

Thanks, on looking at other photos the bird in question does appear to be an australasian rather than hoary headed.
