Excavated from living branchlets of Casuarina cunninghamiana by feeding Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus).

This seems to have 16 prolegs. Are you sure it is not a beetle larva?

I'm not entirely sure Don but I've loaded a different clearer shot of its side and found this chart online What do you think? https://entomology.ca.uky.edu/files/images_0/ef017005.jpg My husband did the study and collected the animals, he's been looking at YTB Cockatoos feeding. I'll ask him tomorrow :)

The new photo clearly shows 4 pairs of prolegs, so it is Lepidoptera.
The markings correspond well with those in Lewin's drawing.
