It might be Acacia fimbriata. However, I would like to see a photo of late flower heads in bud so I can count the flowers per head and of a leaf so I can see the hairs clearly.

I am pretty confident the leaves were hairless.

@natureguy take a specimen to the herbarium if you are able and let me know of the result, non-local wattles are very difficult to ID from photos alone.
