I'll assume this one of the common Rutilia (Donovanius) spp., and not the rare Rutilia micropalpis (likely not, but colours are similar). However, its incredible how the colours change so dramatically between flash and no-flash photos of these flies! Obviously flash is often essential, but its made me realise that I really need to put together a collection both types of photos for each species!
